Here at St Patrick’s College, we offer one of the premier Basketball programs in the state. We have a proud history of competing in the Championship Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournament. For St Patrick’s College, 2026 marks the 13th year of consecutive involvement in the tournament. We have had some outstanding results over the years, with perhaps 2025 being our best year yet.

Program Overview
Our basketball program has continued to grow this year, and we are excited to welcome new additions across both staffing and player development.

A key highlight is the introduction of our new Patties Prep initiative, led by Jamiey Doevendans. This program provides foundational preparation for CBSQ trials, specifically designed for students in Years 7–10 and those new to the game of basketball. Patties Prep seamlessly transitions into the CBSQ trial process, supporting students as they step into the next stage of competition.

Following trials and squad selections, our teams will maintain a consistent training schedule of 1–2 sessions per week in the lead-up to CBSQ competitions, ensuring strong preparation and development.

We are also proud to be the only school and association in North Queensland affiliated with US College Hoops Australia. This partnership enriches our program and recently gave students, coaches, and parents the opportunity to learn from Jason Chainey, who generously shared his 30+ years of elite basketball experience.
